The growth of knowledge in an institution is highly determined by the cultural system and environment, in which the knowledge is produced, disseminated and appropriated. Knowledge, which is substantially demanded for the continuation of the institution, can only be systematically generated in a good social and cultural environment. Yet, in many cases, there is a kind of “black box” that structurally impedes the production of knowledge, because of incapability of the system in constructing a collective “scientific culture”. Abstract Frequent leaks were observed in the seal flush coolers of pumps in crude distillation unit where shell side is open recirculation cooling water. These coolers are in small size and low value items. However, repeated coil leaks resulted in failure of pump seals (increased maintenance cost) & reduced standby redundancy of the pumps. Moreover, cooling water is often contaminated with hydrocarbon (seal oil media) causing increased wastage of treated water by blowdowns (environmental concern), additional consumption of fresh water & treatment chemicals. Further, there is an increas

Abstract:
The implementation of Carbon Capture and Storage (CCS) in coal-fired power plants offers a viable solution for reducing greenhouse gas emissions. CCS captures carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions, transporting them to storage sites underground or for industrial use. Despite challenges like high costs and suitable storage requirements, CCS is crucial for meeting climate targets. This study assesses CCS implementation in fossil fuel power plants, focusing on the Indonesia Government State Owned Electricity Company, PT. PLN (Persero). Using the Integrated Environmental Control Model (IECM), it evaluate

The meaning of clusters has evolved considerably over several decades. This presentation seeks to use a synthesis of the concept from the time of Mill and Marshall (industrial districts), and Smith and Young on differentiation and division of labour to encompass the work of Brusco, Becatini, Sabel, Sengenberger, Zeitlin, Pyke, Richardson, North, Lorenz, Wilkinson and Piore to extract the influence of socio-economic relationships (a blend of markets and trust-loyalty), and subsequently the contributions of Porter (traditional and high tech clusters) and Best (organizational change, techno-diver

Abstract:
Innovating to achieve impact at scale in ill-structured environments is a complex challenge, with numerous socio-techno-economic dimensions. Whether tailoring a product or service offering to meet the needs of a global customer base, forecasting the socio-economic implications of a new technology, or working to address a societal challenge in a low-to-middle income country, problems that encompass social, technical and/or economic uncertainty, significant variations in involved stakeholder characteristics, and even subtle differences across the focal environment, inevitably benefit from a holi

Abstract:
As part of a Regional Public Good (BPR), 20,200 Latin Americans from 18 countries were interviewed on issues of integration, democracy, equity, environment, technology, and innovation. In a world where globalization is being strongly questioned, particularly among developed countries, it is concluded that Latin Americans are very committed to regional integration. The integration process is challenged by the complexity implied by a heterogeneous regional structure with important differences between countries and within them. The differences are many, ranging from income distribution, productiv
