Natural fibre composites (NFCs), which are polymers reinforced with cellulosic bast fibres, have the potential to be applied into a range of building products. They are seen as an alternative to glass fibre reinforced plastics (GFRP) in some applications, because of natural fibres (NF) relatively high strength and low density. Moreover, natural fibres have a set of beneficial traits, such as thermal insulation, thermal stability, biodegradability, and are inherently renewable. Those characteristics are of importance when NF are used as reinforcements in polymer composites, but developments in

Abstract:
The thermo-mechanical response of unidirectional P100 graphite fiber/6061 aluminum matrix composites (vf = 0.47) was investigated at four temperatures: -150°F, +75°F, +250°F and +500°F, using test methods developed at Virginia Tech. Two types of tests, off-axis tension and Iosipescu shear, were used to obtain the desired properties. Good experimental-theoretical correlation was obtained for Exx, vxy and G₁₂. It is shown that E₁₁ is temperature independent, but E₂₂, v₁₂ and G₁₂ generally decrease with increasing temperature. Compared with rather high longitudina

This work aims at providing a numerical tool for the efficient design of the multidirectional carbon fiber reinforced composite material by means of finite element simulations. Abaqus/ CAE v 6.9-1 software has been used to establish a 3D model for simulation of the tensile test on the composite specimen. The aim of this analysis of multidirectional carbon fiber reinforced composite is to predict the strain and stress distribution in different plies through thickness. Tensile test experiment was carried out and the result was analyzed by ARAMIS to calculate the young’s modulus, stress, loads an
