Abstract:
For the last thirty years or so, there has been a search underway for a theory that canaccommodate our intuitions in regard to moral duties to future generations. The object ofthis search has proved surprisingly elusive. The classical moral theories in the literature allhave perplexing implications in this area. Classical Utilitarianism, for instance, implies thatit could be better to expand a population even if everyone in the resulting populationwould be much worse off than in the original. The main problem has been to find an adequate population theory, that is, a theoryabout the moral valu

Abstract:
This paper offers a new theoretical framework for studying the problem of generations and social change in contemporary Iran. It offers a model which is called „articulation of cultural modes“. The paper agrees with Ronald Inglehart that ‘culture’ is now playing a more dominant role in the social formation of current societies, as ‘technology’ once did in the modern era. But it goes one step further by arguing that culture cannot be approached as a holistic concept building on a comprehensive theoretical framework.

Abstract:
This research analyzes the long-lived public good/bad. The public good/bad is defined to ‘live long’ in the sense that the external effects of an action persist beyond the decision horizon of the actor. Thus, a very simple overlapping generations economy is modeled in which the agent lives for two periods while the public durable good/bad lasts indefinitely with deterioration/amelioration. Pareto optimality, the Lindahl equilibrium, and the theory of voluntary provision for this overlapping generations model are contrasted with those of the atemporal model.<br>Ph. D.

This thesis explores the relationship between rights-based moral systems and climate change. It argues that supporters of rights-based moralities must give the realisation of rights priority over non-rights-based moral concerns. It further contends that future persons cannot possess rights that would place current persons under correlative duties towards them before their conception. The thesis then highlights that climate change will need to be combatted through programmes of adaptation and mitigation. Moreover, they can be considered as reliable cosmic clocks to infer the age of a wide variety of stellar populations, including globular and open clusters. Consequently, there is a considerable interest in the study of white dwarf cooling models. In this thesis we used two different approaches. From a theorical perspective, we computed a set of new cooling white dwarfs sequences which incorporates the most up-to-date physical inputs for precision white dwarf cosmochronology and for asteroseismological studies of ZZ Ceti stars

Abstract:
The purpose of this study was to provide a secondary analysis of Derenowski's inductively generated conceptualization of wellness motivation, specifically the category identifying barriers. The sample consisted of 29 individuals who were attempting to initiate and sustain programs of cardiac risk factor modification. Descriptions of perceived barriers to initiating health behavior change were generated from the data using grounded theory methodology. Categories identified within perceived barriers to initiating health behavior change included: personal control, life stress, social relationship

Abstract:
Following the increased competition for organisations to attract and retain young talent, organisation must better adapt to the needs and desires of the labour force. In order to better understand their target groups, Generational Theory has gained track within the field of Human Resources. Now, Generation Z enters the labour market and companies might face new challenges in attracting and retaining this young group of workers. However, the recent entry of Generation Z makes it a relatively unexplored topic, calling for extensive research regarding their needs and behaviour.   Previous researc

Abstract:
One of the main research questions in financial mathematics is that of portfolio construction: how should one systematically invest their wealth in a financial market? This problem has been tackled in numerous ways, typically through the modeling of market prices and the optimization of an investment objective. A recent approach to portfolio construction is that offered by Stochastic Portfolio Theory, in which a relatively general market model is assumed, and the portfolio selection criterion is to outperform a benchmark with probability one. In order to achieve this, Robert Fernholz developed
