Abstract:
Using the Job Demands-Resources (JD-R) model, this cross-sectional study tests whether the direct effects and interaction effects of job demand and motivators affect the level of perceived stress among information technology (IT) consultants. A web-based questionnaire survey was conducted among 380 IT consultants at ten IT consultancy companies in Sweden. The results showed that job demands, autonomy, and motivators are important factors that explain perceived stress among the IT consultants. Those consultants with a high level of job demands and a low level of autonomy had a four times higher

Abstract It was in 1957 that Douglas McGregor first proposed the concept of Theory X and Theory Y in ‘The Human Side of Enterprise’, yet still today his ideas continue to be misunderstood and misused in the field of management. The purpose of this paper is therefore to offer to business and management readers a clear overview of McGregor’s ideas, their use, critique, and contribution to the field of management.

Abstract:
Lead users have been shown to be a highly promising source of innovation for generating radical new product ideas. According to lead user theory, these users are defined as being ahead of an important market trend and experiencing high benefits from innovating. There is strong empirical support that these users tend to come up with commercially attractive user innovations. Other than that, however, there is hardly any knowledge available which helps to describe and differentiate this "species" of user from more "ordinary" users. The present article aims to fill this gap and extends lead

Firms and governments are increasingly interested in learning to exploit the value of lead user innovations for commercial advantage. Improvements to lead user theory are needed to inform and guide these efforts. In this paper we empirically test and confirm the basic tenants of lead user theory. We also discover some new refinements and related practical applications. Using a sample of users and user-innovators drawn from the extreme sport of kite surfing, we analyze the relationship between the commercial attractiveness of innovations developed by users and the intensity of the lead us

We use an accurate sp3V* tight-binding Hamiltonian to present a strong case to support the theory of a two-band anti-crossing model describing the electronic structure of GaNxAs1-x and InyGa1-yNxAs1-x alloys, in terms of the interaction between the conduction band edge and a higher-lying band of resonant nitrogen states. For the first time, we derive the functional dependence of the matrix elements of the two-band model and evaluate its parameters α, β and En. The model is shown to be accurate for band gap calculations up to a range of nitrogen composition, x of around 0.1 and is used to calcu

In order to reach a fundamental understanding of interactions between electromagnetic radiation and molecular materials, experimental measurements need to be supplemented with theoretical models and simulations. With the use of this combination, it is possible to characterize materials in terms of, e.g., chemical composition and molecular structure, as well as achieve time-resolution in studies of chemical reactions. This doctoral thesis focuses on the development and evaluation of theoretical methods with which, amongst others, X-ray absorption and X-ray emission spectroscopies can be interpr

X-rays have been widely exploited to unravel the structure of matter since their discovery in 1895. Nowadays, with the emergence of new X-ray sources with higher intensity and very short pulse duration, notably X-ray Free Electron Lasers, the number of experiments that may be considered in the X-ray regime has increased dramatically, making the characterization of gas phase atoms and molecules in space and time possible. This thesis explores in the theoretical analysis and calculation of X-ray scattering atoms and molecules, far beyond the independent atom model. Amethod to calculate inelastic
