A simple three-dimensional structural evaluation system for a film during uniaxial deformation has been developed. The system is realized with an automatic film stretching machine, which allows the horizontally symmetric stretching of a film, and a synchrotron radiation X-ray scattering apparatus. A new process has been developed to obtain high density nanocrystalline diamond (NCD) film via a double bias voltage hot filament-assisted plasma enhanced chemical vapor deposition (HF-PECVD). The microstructure and characterization of the film were analysed by SEM, Raman and AFM. The results show that the NCD film has higher nucleation density and smooth surface, the nanocrysatalline size was in diameter of about 40 nm. Three Raman band near 1150m-1, 1330 cm-1 and 1590m-1 lie in the specrum. The growth mechanism of naocrystalline diamond film was analysized at last.

This research studied ways to increase the stability of a polymer thin film with a thickness of approximately 10 nm. Our system consisted of a polystyrene (PS) thin film filled with three arm polystyrene (TAP) as additives. Formation of dewetting was investigated by atomic force microscopy and optical microscopy which showed that complete dewetting of the pure PS film occurs after being annealed at 120 oC for 5 h. Abstract PART I - CORROSION CONTROL PROCEDURES AND FAILURE INVESTIGATION The corrosion control procedures used in an attempt to protect a sour gas pipeline from metal loss corrosion and sulphide stress cracking are described. A combination of pretreatment, inhibition and dehydration was successful in preventing metal loss corrosion but after 18 months operation three failures occurred.
