Abstract:
In the growing body of research on gender and taxation in low-income countries, the implications of having more women in tax administration have received relatively little attention. Using data from employee records and key informant interviews, we examine the representation of women in the workforce of the Ethiopian tax administration, as well as their performance and their misconduct. The findings show that women dominate the overall workforce in most branch offices. However, women overwhelmingly occupy lower ranked positions and their engagement at the top level of management is quite limit

Following a review of Vital Signs – indicators of ecosystem health – in the coastal parks of the Northeast Coastal and Barrier Network (NCBN), knowledge of shoreline change was ranked as the top variable for monitoring. Shoreline change is a basic element in the management of any coastal system because it contributes to the understanding of the functioning of the natural resources and to the administration of the cultural resources within the parks. Dual practice in the healthcare setting refers to the holding of more than one job, in unrelated health facilities, by a health professional. In many low-income countries, low pay and difficult working conditions lead many health professionals in the public sector to add to their income by taking on private patients who pay for the services that they receive. Dual practice has both negative and positive consequences and there are concerns that its negative impacts may exceed the positive ones. By allowing public sector workers to supplement their income, it may be easier for the public health
