The article analyzes the specifics of contemporary Ukrainian symbolism in visual art in the context of a relationship with the European tradition. By drawing parallels between contemporary works by Ukrainian authors and symbolic images created in different historical periods of European culture from ancient times to nowadays, their deep kinship in their motives and meanings is demonstrated. The Republic of Moldova, including the Transnistrian region, has become one stop on the massive flow of displaced Ukrainians to the west. Many of them decided to settle in the region. It is relevant to understand how displaced Ukrainians settle in the region and which problems they face. Among Ukrainian migrants in Transnistria, women predominate (about 85%). About 50% of refugees are between 30 and 50 years old. The presence of displaced Ukrainians in Transnistria has a certain impact on the demographic situation in the region, but statistical accounting of this impact remains a problem. The

The paper examines the discursive and linguistic means of appeals of the Ukrainian President V. Zelensky in 2020 to citizens on the spread of the COVID-19 pandemic. Our analysis results suggest that in Ukraine, the rhetoric of the President's appeals demonstrates the spread of nationally oriented power mechanisms of discourse, which depend on the social context more than in highly developed countries.
