Bakgrund: Myom är den vanligaste gynekologiska benigna tumören hos kvinnor i fertil ålder. Det finns idag läkemedelsbehandlingar, invasiva ingrepp och icke-invasiva ingrepp vid behandling av myom. Utvecklingen av läkemedel mot myom är lågprioriterat, eftersom de främst är benigna och snarare leder till sjuklighet än dödlighet. De läkemedel som idag används vid behandling av myom är ulipristal, GnRH-agonister, NSAID, tranexamsyra, p-piller eller hormonspiral. Os miomas uterinos são os tumores benignos mais comuns do trato genital feminino, sendo que nas mulheres portadoras, 30% são sintomáticos e exigem alguma forma de tratamento. No presente estudo, foram tratadas 35 pacientes sintomáticas com diagnóstico clínico e ultra-sonográfico de mioma uterino, por meio da embolização dos miomas com partículas de polivinil-álcool associadas à obstrução das artérias uterinas com micromolas fibradas. No setor de Ginecologia do Hospital das Clínicas da FMUSP, 67 mulheres com leiomiomas do útero e idade de 24 a 39 anos, nuligestas foram estudadas. 31 receberam goserelin a cada 28 dias por 6 meses (grupo I) e 36 não (grupo II).
