Abstract:
ABSTRACT Biopsies from volunteers challenged with Cryptosporidium parvum were examined for transforming growth factor β1 (TGF-β1). None of the prechallenge biopsies exhibited TGF-β. Seven of 12 volunteers with oocyst shedding expressed TGF-β versus 2 of 13 volunteers without detected oocysts. The association of TGF-β expression with oocyst excretion and the timing of symptoms suggests that TGF-β mediates intestinal healing.

The paper intends to investigate the key determinants of inflation in Bangladesh using the data for the period 2009-10 to 2019-20. The variables used in the study are broad money supply, foreign direct investments, GDP growth, foreign exchange rates and trade balance. Ordinary least squared method has been used to conduct the empirical analysis. The results found that broad money supply, foreign direct investments and trade balance has positive and significant association with the inflation. GDP growth has negative and insignificant relation with the inflation whereas foreign exchange has posi

AbstractBased on fieldwork in an urban branch of the China Youth Volunteers' Association this article discusses how individual motivation for volunteering among young middle-class students plays a role in the internal reforming of one of the few officially authorised associations available for young people. Whereas Chinese volunteering was once a Party-driven effort supported by Maoist calls to 'Serve the people', contemporary Chinese volunteering is promoted with a focus on the volunteer's own experience and commitment. Interviews and participant observation demonstrate how young volunteers u

Introduction: Single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) have lately been used for prediction of metabolic processes that may be related to obesity. The aim of our study was to examine the association of SNPs of several genes with obesity and physical activity in 18 healthy volunteers.
Methods: We used buccal swabs to collect and extract DNA from 18 volunteers. Pyrosequencing was used for molecular analysis of 13 polymorphisms in 10 genes (APOA2, MTHFR, MCM6, peroxisome proliferators-activated receptor gamma, FABP2, beta-2-adrenergic receptor (ADRB)2, ADRB3, A-actinin-3, angiotensin-converti
