Recently rice field in Ultisol has some problems, the most important thing is high concentration of Fe that can be toxic to the rice growth. The objective of this study was to determine the best water management to reduce concentration of Fe in recently rice field. The use of commercial data loggers and gypsum blocks to monitor the matric potential of water in soil was evaluated in the laboratory and at 2 field sites. A set of calibration resistors that simulated a matric potential range of —20 to —2120 kPa was developed that showed close agreement with data that was originally used to develop algorithms for the loggers. Data loggers used in experiments were calibrated against the resistors so output values could be re-scaled to that of the resistor set. Close agreement was found between the matric potential of soil, which was estimated from filter paper

The mean litter mass was similar for unlogged and logged forests. We evaluated four habitat attributes linked to ecosystem functioning (canopy cover, water temperature, sediment organic matter, and small woody debris) and calculated two indices of functional diversity: richness and divergence. In 1896 OMI established a commission for radiometry which led, in 1905, to choose Ångström pyrheliometer as standard instrument. Later, radiometers were built with a chart recorder for measuring solar radiation components. Instruments using thermopile or photocell as sensitive element were made. From 1980s radiometers with data logger were built. In 2000s devices were developed for measuring solar radiation components in water column, for studies on physical and biological marine quantities.

Abstract The stray current from DC subway system in Korea has affected the cathodic protection (CP) design of the buried pipelines adjacent to the railroads. Among various mitigation methods, the drainage bond method either of polarized type or of forced type was widely adopted by the pipeline engineers. However, this method suffers disadvantages about increased interference to other pipelines adjacent to the railroad as well as electrolytic corrosion of the rail components. In order to overcome this problem, an alternative suitable stray current mitigation method is under design by our group.
