Abstract:
Positive attitudes towards breastfeeding in health professionals/students have been associated with increasing their confidence to provide support and accompaniment to mothers. In Mexico, there is no valid/reliable tool to assess attitudes towards breastfeeding in this population. The Australian Breastfeeding Attitudes (and Knowledge) Questionnaire (ABAQ) measures attitudes in the Australian population. We aimed to adapt and validate the ABAQ in Mexican health students. We included 264 health students (nursing, nutrition, and medicine) from the University of Guadalajara. Bilingual translators

Introduction. Physical changes during pregnancy trigger a positive or negative emotional response to the body image of the future mother. Since this response can affect the health of the mother and the fetus, it is necessary to have valid instruments to evaluate body image in pregnant women. Objective. To validate in Spanish the Scale of Attitudes towards Pregnancy and Weight Gain in Mexican population. Method. Imagine you are asked in an academic meeting to name three or four prominent Spanish composers in the field of the string quartet. How many would you be able to cite? You might be tempted to answer that the quartet was in fact hardly cultivated in Spain, or you might perhaps wonder whether Boccherini could be taken to be a ‘Spanish’ composer. These potential responses to this fictional situation encapsulate well two of the historiographical preconceptions that have governed our view of this area, the first of which is, to put it in Friedhelm Krummacher's words, that Spanish composers ‘adopted

Tuscan-born and Spanish-trained Alessandro Malaspina (1754-1810) captained the most significant scientific expedition ever launched by Spain in the years 1789-1794. After a survey of the Spanish colonies in America, he directed the course of the Descubierta towards the South Pacific and anchored at Port Jackson on 11 March 1793. In my essay I will scrutinize the New South Wales leg of Malaspina’s voyage account, comparing 'Viaje político-científico alrededor del mundo' (the original 1885 Spanish edition) and 'Journal of a Voyage by Alejandro Malaspina' (its 2001 English translation), and integ

In the 20th century a historical approach to the problem of heraldry first appeared in the Spanish heraldic historiography. The books of Martín de Riquer, a prominent Spanish scientist, serve as a model for the study of this phenomenon. Another patriarch of Spanish heraldry F. This article investigates the attitude to communism, National Socialism, Fascism, and authoritarian conservatism in the Swedish Catholic Church’s journal Credo from 1922 to 1945. The comparative approach has made it possible to see how the journal distinguished between the various forms of authoritarian ideologies in Europe during this period. The article shows that the Catholic Church in Sweden took a very negative view of communism (the Soviet Union and the Spanish Republic) and strongly condemned it throughout the period, while it took a largely very positive stance towards Fascism (Italy)

In contrast with the logico-semantical analyses of conditional (Stalnaker, 1968; Lewis, 1973; Pollock, 1976), it is claimed in this paper that it is not possible to give a sound interpretation to such sentential structures if pragmatic factors are not taken into account. In particular, determinants in the assigment of meaning to any such type of conditional are the epistemic attitude of the speaker towards the protasis, and the nature of the communicative context at the time of the utterance. On the other hand, it is argued that the inferential relations of these conditionals, have their origi

AbstractCooperatives began contributing to the modernisation of European agriculture in the late nineteenth century but the rate at which they developed varied according to countries, regions, and crops. In Spain a large number were set up before the 1936−9 Civil War but few actually became consolidated entities. This paper analyses the Spanish case in an attempt to find the keys to the success or failure of cooperation. It focuses especially on the role played by the state and on the attitude shown by the different segments of farmers towards cooperatives.

The Spanish educational system has heterogeneous and diverse students that have increasing learning needs. All this has forced it to reinvent itself, designing and applying a model of inclusive education that serves to offer a higher quality educational response to these students. One of the main pillars for achieving this challenge is the teaching staff. The aim of this study is to evaluate the training and attitudes of future teachers to work in inclusive educational environments.
