Abstract:
Abstract Organizations always strive to develop robust contracts to support supply chains. Depending on the size of the organizations, tens to thousands of contracts are procured to secure goods and services, including manpower. However, many disputes and penalties occur after contract awarding due to manpower qualifications not being satisfied as per contract terms and conditions (Brian, 2018). As the demand to outsource services increases, optimal safety operations require more qualified manpower. This paper introduces a new contract measure to evaluate individual safety intelligence, which

Abstract:
Contract farming (CF) is increasingly seen as an effective mechanism to maximise the inclusion of and benefits for small-scale farmers, while giving some control over production to agribusinesses without requiring land ownership. In Cambodia, CF takes many forms and involves food and industrial crops, yet the different CF models and contract types have not been identified. Farmers and contractors have encountered many problems in obtaining reliable benefits from and sustaining CF schemes. The research objectives were to identify and evaluate the various models of CF practiced in Cambodia, expl

Abstract:
Verdicts returned by modern courts of justice in the context of sovereign debt lawsuits have upheld a ratable (proportional) interpretation of so-called “pari passu” clauses in debt contracts which, literally, promise creditors they will be dealt with equitably. Such verdicts have given individual creditors the right to interfere with payments to others, in situation where the sovereign had failed to make proportional payments. Contract originalists argue that this interpretation of pari passu clauses has no historical foundation. Historically, they claim, pari passu clauses never granted indi

Politicians and analysts have taken up the increasing use of mobile money services in Kenya’s informal sector as a potential entry point to taxing small-scale businesses that usually fly under the radar of local tax authorities. Along these lines, the Finance Act 2023 proposed, among several other tax increases, to raise the excise duty tax on mobile money services from 12 to 15 per cent, resulting in increased fees for customers. Our research investigates ordinary citizens’ reaction to this change in taxation through ethnographic fieldwork, in-depth interviews and focus group discussions, as

In recent years, domestic and international policy attention has often focused on broadening the tax base in order to include a greater share of the population in the ‘tax net’. This is based, in part, on the hope that the expansion of taxation will result in positive ‘governance dividends’ for taxpayers. However, the implications of extending the tax base in rural areas in low-income countries has been insufficiently considered. Through the case studies of Togo, Benin, and Sierra Leone, we demonstrate that extending taxation to rural areas is often highly inefficient, leading to few, if any,

This US Army Corps of Engineers, Regional Sediment Management, technical note describes a geodatabase of federal coastal and inland navigation projects developed to determine the extent to which RSM goals have been implemented across the USACE at the project and district levels. The effort 1) quantified the volume of sediment dredged from federal navigation channels by both contract and USACE-owned dredges and 2) identified the placement type and whether sediment was placed beneficially. The majority of the dredging data used to populate the geodatabase were based on the USACE Dredging Informa

Export Credit Agencies (ECAs) play a role of central importance in international trade and investment flows. ECAs are a vital part of the infrastructure supporting trade and have often been considered to be a critical component in a nation's export-led growth strategy. The basic role of an ECA is to support and encourage exports and outward investment by insuring international trade and investment transactions and, in some cases, providing finance directly. One of the most common and most challenging problems that ECAs face is what to do about small exporters. Small exporters are a significant

As of the third quarter of 2024, total assets and the gross loan portfolio of CIs continued to contract, although at a slower pace. The contraction in the loan portfolio is explained by the recovery in disbursements, in an environment of declining interest rates and a recovery in credit demand.
