Abstract:
The central role that avant-garde music and dance theatre played in the interplay and synthesis of the arts and media in the 1920s, particularly in Paris, is well known. However, the creative potential of ballet has hardly been recognized in its manifold relationships with film and cinematic-inspired expression. The extent to which especially ballet music interacted with the latest cinematographic principles and techniques and referred to cinematic aesthetics in a variety of ways can instructively be seen regarding the productions of the Ballets Suédois. This is discussed in this article with

Abstract:
The paper deals with cultural conceptualisations of events as they are reflected in the cinematic lexicon. Three main goals are followed throughout the paper: 1) to emphasize that the cinema-related vocabulary involves the same concepts when it denotes extra-linguistic realities specific to the world of film; 2) to illustrate the shift from culture specific, to cross-cultural events (and vice versa), and 3) to indicate that the cinematic lexicon metonymically reflects these complementary moves (globalisation / localisation). In order to achieve these goals, we adopt the analytical tools of Cul

The article explores correlations between motion verbs and head and hands gestures using the RUPEX corpus. The verbs are divided into four groups based on their meanings. Мonological and dialogical parts of the recordings are compared along with the speaker’s role and viewpoint in gestures. The pilot analysis of motion verbs in the multimodal corpus showed that the relationships between verb type, non-verbal behavior and speaker’s role depend on a complex set of factors and manifests itself in different ways in different channels. In the verbal channel no direct relationship between the semant

Abstract:
Abstract Failure Analysis (FA) is a complex activity that requires careful and complete documentation of all findings and conclusions to preserve knowledge acquired by engineers in this process. Modern FA systems store this data in text or image formats and organize it in databases, file shares, wikis, or other human-readable forms. Given a large volume of generated FA data, navigating it or searching for particular information is hard since machines cannot process the stored knowledge automatically and require much interaction with experts. In this paper, we investigate applications of modern
