Nikiforov-Volgin’s story "The Road Staff" in the context of the prose of first-wave Russian diaspora – the works by I.A. Bunin ("Iz zapisok neizvestnogo" ["From the Notes of the Unknown"]) and I.S. Although the genre status of the memoirs of the Russian writer Andrei T. Bolotov has been repeatedly raised in the literature, it has never merited a separate study. This article analyses the structure of Bolotov’s memoirs in terms of their genre peculiarity. Gene-gene or gene-drug interactions are typically quantified using fitness as a readout because the data is continuous and easily measured in high-throughput. However, to what extent fitness captures the range of other phenotypes that show synergistic effects is usually unknown. C. elegans worms with mutations in the gene CLK-1 develop slowly and have an extended lifespan. CLK-1 encodes a mitochondrial protein that is responsible for the hydroxylation of 5-demethoxyubiquinone (DMQ), the penultimate step of ubiquinone (Coenzyme-Q or UQ) biosynthesis. Structural homologues of CLK-1 are found in mammals, fruit flies, yeast and some types of bacteria. The article analyzes L. Gurov's Sonata for violin and piano from the point of view of its performing interpretation. The author aims to reveal the original features of this work, which are manifested in particular, in the use of folklore material.
