Abstract:
An observational study was conducted examining the social and cognitive play of young children with hearing-impairment playing in small groups composed of both hearing and hearing-impaired peers. The questions addressed the effects of the hearing status of the play partner upon the social/cognitive play patterns of children with hearing-impairment, and the relationship between their play patterns and their communicative competence, social competence and speech intelligibility. Forty-eight hearing-impaired subjects ranging in age from 3-6 to 6-1 were observed playing with partners of same and d

Healthy people can hardly imagine the hearing impairment in everyday life and in the most cases, they do not encounter it. Itʼs not easy to imagine life in silence or in partial silence, when a hearing-impaired person, a child, does not perceive or perceives the sounds around themselves only weakly. The present paper deals with the educational process of children with hearing impairment. It briefly introduces hearing impairment, pre-primary education of hearing-impaired children in Slovakia and the place of rhythmic and movement education in the State Educational Programme. The form and severity of the deficiency cause a greater or lesser impairment of the functions of reception and expression of verbal communication. All functions of the child's social behavior lose their vitality: a hearing-impaired child learns to pronounce words, but does not learn to speak, to use speech as a means of communication and thinking. A study of the characteristics of children with hearing impairments has demonstrated the presence of certain differences in the development of their personality. The human senses are our way of coming into contact with the environment. The human brain combines the sparks of the neurons responsible for sight, hearing, smell, taste and touch into a comprehensible whole. Our eyes are what protect us from danger. Visual impairments produce an imbalance at the behavioral level, which negatively influences the child’s relationships with the environment.
