Abstract:
Gray mold disease, which is caused by Botrytis cinerea Pers ex. Fr., results in serious economic losses to Lycopersicum esculentum (tomato) crop productivity. In this study, we explored the possibility that mixtures of essential oils (EOs) and their respective hydrolates (HYSs) could be used to control this disease. Thus, EOs and HYSs were obtained from Origanum vulgare, Thymus vulgaris, Citrus limon, and Citrus sinensis by hydrodistillation. In vitro antifungal activities were evaluated, and EC50 values of 15.9 and 19.8 µg/mL were obtained for EOs of thyme and oregano, respectively. These act

In low-latitude areas less than 10° in latitude angle, the solar radiation that goes into the solar still increases as the cover slope approaches the latitude angle. However, the amount of water that is condensed and then falls toward the solar-still basin is also increased in this case. Consequently, the solar yield still is significantly decreased, and the accuracy of the prediction method is affected. This reduction in the yield and the accuracy of the prediction method is inversely proportional to the time in which the condensed water stays on the inner side of the condensing cover without

Mapping the extent and quantifying oil slick in ocean spills is one of the major objectives for monitoring and clean-up programs. Hyperspectral sensors are among the few remote sensing tools with potential for quantifying hydrocarbon oil on water and on other background substrates. At present, methods used to process hyperspectral data for quantifying hydrocarbon oil relies on delineating shapes and wavelength position of key diagnostic features within shortwave infrared (SWIR), particularly at 1.73µm and 2.30µm, which are often affected by the spectral features from the background substrates.

Abstract:
The economic analysis of hybrid vis-à-vis high-yielding varieties of vegetables (okra and bottle guard) in Haryana was conducted in Nuh (Mewat) and Panipat districts of Haryana. From each district, 40 farmers and a total 80 vegetable growers interacted to extract relevant information pertaining to inputs used, expenses incurred, and output attained during 2022-23. The results of the present study revealed that overall the cost of cultivation of okra hybrid and HYVs was Rs. 211978 and Rs. 184824 ha-1, respectively. Similarly, overall the cost of cultivation of bottle gourd hybrid and HYVs was R

A decreased nitrogen (N) rate with increased planting density (DNID) is recommended as a feasible method to maintain rice grain yield and N-utilization efficiency. However, it is still unclear whether DNID could improve grain quality, particularly the edible quality of rice. Three high-yield rice with superior palatability (HYSP) and three high-yield rice with inferior palatability (HYIP) were grown under DNID and local cultivation practices (LCP) in the same paddy fields during the 2018 and 2019 rice planting seasons. HYSP exhibited similar grain yields to HYIP under both cultivation treatmen

The inter-subspecific crossing between indica and japonica subspecies in rice have been utilized to improve the yield potential of temperate rice. In this study, a comparative study of the genomic regions in the eight high-yielding varieties (HYVs) was conducted with those of the four non-HYVs. The Next-Generation Sequencing (NGS) mapping on the Nipponbare reference genome identified a total of 14 common genomic regions of japonica-originated alleles. Interestingly, the HYVs shared japonica-originated genomic regions on nine chromosomes, although they were developed through different breeding

Expression from the hyn operon regulatory region is up-regulated under anaerobic conditions. cis elements were mapped between positions −602 and −514 upstream from the hynS gene. Within this region two sequences that resemble DNA sites for FNR were recognized. The gene of an FNR homologue, FnrT, was identified in the genome of T. roseopersicina, and an fnrT knockout mutant was constructed. Anaerobic induction of hynS expression was a

The bond strength between rebar and concrete is important for the quality performance of reinforced concrete structures. At the interface, bond strength development mainly depends on surface configuration. Different rib configuration improves the strength significantly in high yield rebars as compared to mild steel. This study examines the bond strength behavior of ordinary MS (Mild Steel) rebars, HYSD (High Yield Strength Deformed) parallel rib, and HYSD diamond rib rebars. Experimental analysis to obtain pull-out behavior of rebar in concrete was based on IS 2770 Part I – 1967: Reaffirmed 20

An open question is whether concomitant oophorectomy, with cessation of ovarian androgen secretion, has any long-term effects on sexual function.
