We discuss the opportunities and challenges that are faced when businesses consider expanding into Armenia. Armenia has experienced multiple economic growths, exceeding 12% in 2022 and solidifying its position as the fastest growing economy among former Soviet countries. However, despite the economic boom, businesses venturing into Armenia encounter a complex regulatory environment with a growing tech industry, lack of government bureaucracy, limited market size, limited trading process, as well as corruption remains an issue. This rapid review synthesises the literature from academic, policy, and knowledge institution sources on how reform in customs procedures can facilitate international trade in environmental goods and services. Overall, it finds that there is a general belief in the literature from the World Trade Organization (WTO), International Trade Center and World Bank, that streamlining customs procedures supports international trade in environmental goods. There is survey evidence that firms exporting environmental goods encounter difficulties with customs procedures at the point of entry. Previous trad

In the winter of 1996, Canada's third largest financial institution, the Bank of Montreal, launched a now infamous advertising campaign in which it asked the question: Can a bank change? While the resulting ads naturally responded in the affirmative, many other large financial institutions were asking themselves the same question. This article provides a comprehensive historical and contemporary analysis of how international trade theory and practice have developed. It begins with the classical economic theories of the 17th to 19th centuries – spanning Italian mercantilists like Antonio Serra, French Physiocrats such as François Quesnay, English classical economists like Adam Smith and David Ricardo, and German protectionist thinkers like Friedrich List – and examines how these early thinkers understood trade in goods versus services. The narrative then traces major shifts through the 19th and 20th centuries, highlighti

This study traces the evolution of the World Trade Organization (WTO) negotiations on liberalising trade in Environmental Goods and Services (EGS). It explores the challenges and opportunities faced by Commonwealth small states and countries in Sub Saharan Africa (SSA) in participating in EGS discussions. Small states and SSA countries have been primarily absent from the multilateral discussions on EGS for reasons that include insufficient trade-related interests in environmental goods. Notwithstanding, these countries should partake in these discussions especially amid the changing economic a
