Breast cancer is a health problem in the world. To overcome this problem requires early detection of breast cancer. The purpose of this study is to classify early breast cancer grades. Combination of physical parameters with k-nearest neighbor Method is proposed to detect early breast cancer grades. The experiments were performed on 87 mammograms consisting of 12 mammograms of grade 1.41 mammograms of grade 2 and 34 mammogram of grade 3. The proposed method was effective to classify the grades of breast cancer by an accuracy of 64.36%, 50% sensitivity and 73.5% specitifity. Physical parameters

The goal of the study is to reveal the effect of high loading rate on the stable SCC growth behaviour of nuclear-grade stainless steel, SUS316L. To this end, the Split-Hopkinson pressure bar (SHPB) experiments on SUS316L were performed first to establish the dynamic tensile stress-strain response at strain rates up to 700s−1. The analyses of dynamic stress intensity factors for wedge loading experiments on modified compact tension specimens during SCC test were then performed by the finite element method. The outline of the wedge loading experiments by the use of the Split-Hopkinson pressure b

A reduced pressure electron beam (RPEB) process is being developed in the UK by ‘The Welding Institute’ (TWI) for the manufacture of thick section plate, forging and pipe welds. Potential gains include minimal distortion, fewer weld defects and rapid production times, compared to conventional arc welding processes. To date, RPEB welding equipment and parameters have been successfully developed and applied in a sealed chamber under partial vacuum (∼1mbar), to produce 1-pass seam welds in low alloy steel plates and forgings. Rolls-Royce commissioned TWI to produce RPEB welds in SA508 Grade 3 Cla

This paper describes finite element (FE) modelling and neutron diffraction (ND) measurements to investigate the development of residual stresses in two different geometries of ferritic weld. All specimens were produced using SA508 Grade 3 steel plates, depositing a low carbon SD3 weld filler by mechanised TIG welding. The FE analyses were carried out using Abaqus/VFT and the behaviour of the SA508 steel was modelled using a simplified (Leblond) phase transformation model with isotropic hardening using VFT’s UMAT-WELD subroutine, which includes the change in volume due to phase transformation.

This paper describes numerical analyses performed in connection with the design of a large scale mock-up test planned within the European project on structural integrity STYLE. There are three large scale mock-up tests planned in STYLE, each of them dedicated to investigate specific effects. Mock-up3 (cladded ferritic pipe with an outer diameter of 420 mm) is foreseen to investigate transferability of material data, including fracture mechanics properties. Usually, material data are obtained by testing small specimens, which are subsequently used for the assessment of large scale structures (r

The Central Valley Transportation Challenge provides underserved minority students, who are primarily from rural areas, with high quality transportation-related educational experiences so that they learn about transportation-related topics and opportunities in transportation careers. The CVTC is a project-based learning program that brings university faculty and students to K–12 classrooms in rural areas. The project operated with three main objectives: (1) support K–12 teachers’ understanding and implementation of the CVTC programs; (2) connect K–12 students with university faculty and studen

Abstract:
Climate and hydrology are major drivers of ecosystem structure and function, particularly in arid and semi-arid ecosystems. Understanding changes in climate, groundwater, streamflow, and water quality is central to assessing the condition of park resources. This report combines data collected on climate, groundwater, and springs at Big Bend National Park (NP) to provide an integrated look at climate and water conditions during water year (WY) 2019 (October 2018–September 2019). However, this report does not address the Rio Grande or its tributaries. Annual precipitation was higher than normal
