The effect of Zn/Mg ratio on the as-cast microstructure and its evolution during homogenization of Al-Zn-Mg-Cu alloys was investigated by optical microscopy (OM), differential scanning calorimetry (DSC), scanning electron microscope (SEM) and X-ray diffraction (XRD). Experimental results showed that serious dendritic segregation existed in the as-cast microstructures while the second phases were mainly AlZnMgCu phase and Al2Cu phase. With the Zn/Mg ratio increasing from 1.5 to 2.0, the area fraction of AlZnMgCu phase decreased from 2.85% to 2.53%, which was attributed to the content of Mg elem

The liquidus temperature (TN) for the nucleation of the primary phase decreases from 390.3 to 382.9 °C, and the undercooling increases from 0.7 to 8.1 °C, as the cooling rate rises from 0.04 to 10 °C/s. As carbon content increases, the amount of Al2Mn3 phase decreases and the content of pure crystallized Mn phase increases. Gas-phase electron diffraction (GED) is the method of choice for determining the structures of molecules containing between two and 100 atoms, free from intermolecular interaction. However, for many molecules it becomes necessary to augment the experimental GED data with information from other sources. The SARACEN method, used routinely at Edinburgh when determining structures, allows computed parameters from ab initio and density functional theory (DFT) calculations to be used as extra data in the GED refinement process. Abstract:
The Lac aux Goélands area is of moderate relief characterized by till blankets in the lowlands and till veneers with large expanses of bedrock outcrops in the western and eastern margins. Bedrock was variably eroded by the Laurentide Ice Sheet, east of the Ancestral Labrador ice divide. Phases of ice flow imparted multiple sets of glacially streamlined landforms and erosional paleo-flow indicators on the landscape. However, the dominant eastward-trending, elongated streamlined landforms were formed by ice streaming during deglaciation. Multiple sets of discordant meltwater channels were formed

Abstract:
Preliminary surficial geology studies, based on air photo interpretation and limited legacy field data in the Brichta Lake map area, provide an understanding of the distribution and nature of surficial materials, and regional glacial history. The terrain is characterized by extensive glacial and meltwater scouring that has affected bedrock outcrops, and eroded hummocky and streamlined till, till blankets, and till veneers in the southwest regions. Streamlined bedrock and till landforms indicate ice flow towards the northwest and north-northwest during the last glaciation. Subglacial meltwater

Abstract:
Many authors have deplored the scarcity of evaluations that assess the impact and effectiveness of programmes and policies in the field of Counter-Terrorism (CT) and Preventing/Countering Violent Extremism (P/CVE). This makes it difficult to understand which efforts to address violent extremism have had positive results, and what measures and methods have been effective in identifying impact. This policy brief aims to provide policymakers and practitioners in the CT and P/CVE field with the necessary background to integrate monitoring and evaluation (M&E) in their work. It explains what M&

Abstract:
The Morganza Floodway and the Atchafalaya Basin, located in Louisiana west of the Mississippi River, were evaluated using a two-dimensional Adaptive Hydraulics model. Prior to this study, Phase 1 and 2 model studies were performed that indicated that the existing floodway may not be able to pass the Project Design Flood discharge of 600,000 cubic feet per second due to levee overtopping. In this study, all elevations of exterior and interior levees were updated with current crest elevations. In addition, the Phase 3 effort evaluated the sensitivity of the floodway’s flow capacity to variations
