This work gives an overview of Montenegrin poetry from the second half of 19th and early 20th century. Many works of the eastern poets were devoted to love theme. The most spread “Leyla and Majnun” is a love story originated in Arabic, later significantly expanded to Persian and got its fictional peak in Turkic literature. Poets frequently wrote on this theme. This paper studies the features of poetic texts of the famous Russian poet of the XX century B. Slutsky. The author attempts to identify the typological features of the ode genre in the poet’s lyrics. It is noted that this type of works is undergoing a certain transformation in the Russian literary tradition. In the XVIII century, the ode was the leading genre in Russian literature, but already at the end of the XVIII — early XIX centuries, a crisis of the ode type of works occurs, the genre is transformed. This chapter borrows the metaphor of ‘rewilding’ from contemporary ecology to describe the effect of Russian poetry translated into Scots on the literature of Scotland in the past century. In that time, it is argued, poets writing in Scots have treated Russia as a source of unorthodox, revolutionary energy that might help them push back against anglophone monoculture and revitalize Scottish letters.
