This text addresses the Cultural and Artistic Dimension of Bantu Languages in Higher Education in Angola. The Bantu languages are the only means of expressing art in Angola. Therefore, there is no art without Angolan languages. In a country where the state imposes the deprivation of the public or private use of local languages as fundamental rights of people, one cannot speak of Angolan art, since only through these languages can the artist express the cultural, political and artistic values of the Peoples of Angola. Bantu languages occupy the last position with a deprecated language dimension

Abstract Background Sickle cell anemia (SCA) is a significant, under recognized contributor to global childhood mortality, especially in sub-Saharan Africa. Early diagnosis is critical to enable timely access to care and education, before severe and life-threatening complications develop in the first year of life. Unfortunately, such early and comprehensive care remains largely unavailable for many infants across Africa. In an attempt to reduce the high early mortality associated with SCA, an infant SCA clinic was developed and implemented in the capital city of Luanda, Angola. We describe the

The clear spread of private education, especially in recent years, we see that societies fluctuate between acceptance and rejection of such a phenomenon.

Abstract:
The private provision of educational services has been representing an increasing fraction of the Peruvian schooling system, especially in recent decades. While there have been many claims about the differences in quality between private and public schools, there is no complete assessment of the different impacts of these two type of providers on the labor markets. This paper attempts to provide such a comprehensive overview by exploring private-public differences in the individual returns to education in Urban Peru. Exploiting a rich pair of data sets (ENNIV 1997 and 2000) that include questi

The report assesses two Department of Education (DepEd) student financial assistance schemes under the Government Assistance to Students and Teachers in Private Education (GASTPE) program. These schemes are the Educational Service Contracting (ESC) and the Senior High School Voucher (SHSV) schemes. Through these initiatives, DepEd pays tuition fees for eligible students enrolling in qualified private schools of their choice. The study aims to answer the following questions: Are the programs on track to achieve their objectives? What key challenges and adjustments need to be made for the progra

Abstract:
This paper examines whether an expansion in the supply of public preschool crowds out private enrollment, using rich data for municipalities in Brazil from 2000-2006, where federal transfers to local governments change discontinuously with given population thresholds. Results from a regression-discontinuity design reveal that larger federal transfers lead to a significant expansion of local public preschool services, but show no effects on the quantity or quality of private provision. These findings are consistent with a theory in which households differ in willingness to pay for preschool ser

We estimate the equilibrium effects of a public school grant program administered through school councils in Pakistani villages with multiple public and private schools and clearly defined catchment boundaries. The program was randomized at the village-level, allowing us to estimate its causal impact on the market. Four years after the start of the program, test scores were 0.2 sd higher in public schools. We find evidence of an education multiplier: test scores in private schools were also 0.2 sd higher in treated markets. Consistent with standard models of product differentiation, the educat
