Abstract:
Process monitoring (PM) for nuclear safeguards sometimes requires estimation of thresholds corresponding to small false alarm rates. Threshold estimation dates to the 1920s with the Shewhart control chart; however, because possible new roles for PM are being evaluated in nuclear safeguards, it is timely to consider modern model selection options in the context of threshold estimation. One of the possible new PM roles involves PM residuals, where a residual is defined as residual = data − prediction. This paper reviews alarm threshold estimation, introduces model selection options, and consider

Outliers, defined as points with large residuals to all true models, exhibit similar characteristics to high values in quantized residual preferences, thus causing outliers to cluster away from inliers in quantized residual preference space. Instead of directly comparing the numerous data under noise conditions, the wavelet energy entropy deviation is used for the fault detection and diagnosis. The actual Three-level wavelet analysis is used to decompose the measurement data captured from sensors first and then the concept of Shannon entropy is referred to define the wavelet energy entropy. Once the wavelet energy entropy is obtained, whether the sensors are faulty can be confirmed through comparing the deviation o

The information about the residual energy of each sensor node in the network is saved in a special node called monitoring node. This information can be used as input to other applications to prolong the network lifetime.
