ABSTRACT When the yeast Saccharomyces cerevisiae shifts from rapid growth on glucose to slow growth on ethanol, it undergoes profound changes in cellular metabolism, including the destruction of most of the translational machinery. We have examined the effect of this metabolic change, termed the diauxic shift, on the frequency of translational errors. Recoding sites are mRNA sequences that increase the frequency of translational errors, providing a convenient reporter of translational accuracy. We found that the diauxic shift causes no overall change in translational accuracy but does cause a

ωThis study applies a skew ray tracing approach based on a 4×4 homogeneous coordinate transformation matrix and Snell’s law to analyze the errors of a ray’s light path as it passes through a series of optical elements for axis-symmetrical optical system. The proposed error analysis methodology considers two principal sources of light path error, namely: (1) the translational errors Δxi, Δyiand Δziand the rotational errors Δωix, Δωiyand Δωiz, which determine the deviation of the light path at each boundary surface, and (2) the differential changes induced in the incident point position and unit

Translation theory, although a young science, has deep roots dating back centuries, with the dichotomy between literal and free translation evident since the time of St. Jerome. This paper examines the evolution of this basic translational dichotomy across different theoretical frameworks, including formal equivalence, dynamic equivalence, communicative and semantic translation, foreignization, domestication, etc. The authors also highlight the differences between the theoretical concepts. Furthermore, the paper focuses on how the translation dichotomies may be applied in practice. To this end

Abstract During canonical translation, the ribosome moves along an mRNA from the start to the stop codon in exact steps of one codon at a time. The collinearity of the mRNA and the protein sequence is essential for the quality of the cellular proteome. Spontaneous errors in decoding or translocation are rare and result in a deficient protein. However, dedicated recoding signals in the mRNA can reprogram the ribosome to read the message in alternative ways. This review summarizes the recent advances in understanding the mechanisms of three types of recoding events: stop-codon readthrough, –1 ri

The multiple-input-multiple-output (MIMO) synthetic aperture radar (SAR) system with a linear antenna array can obtain 3D resolution. In practice, it suffers from both the translational motion errors and the rotational motion errors. Conventional single-channel motion compensation methods could be used to compensate the motion errors channel by channel. However, this method might not be accurate enough for all the channels. What is more, the single-channel compensation may break the coherence among channels, which would cause defocusing and false targets. In this paper, both the translational

Inverse dynamic problem analyzing of flexible link robot with translational and rotational joints is presented in this work. The new model is developed from single flexible link manipulator with only rotational joint. The dynamic equations are built by using finite element method and Lagrange approach. The approximate force of translational joint and torque of rotational joint are found based on rigid model. The simulation results show the values of driving forces at joints of flexible robot with desire path and errors of joint variables between flexible and rigid models. Elastic displacements

The 3-RRR spherical parallel manipulator is known to be highly overconstrained, which causes several problems of mounting the mechanism, but has the advantage of having high rigidity thus a good precision. Several works in the literature proposed non-overconstrained versions of this mechanism. However, very few works dealt with the problem of the consequence of modifying an overconstrained mechanism into a non-overconstrained one, mainly from an accuracy point of view. In this work, we present an analysis of the accuracy of four different non-overconstrained SPMs, i.e., 3-RSR, 3-RCC, 3-RRS, an
