General rules

The 'author-date' system of Chicago Style imposes the same rules for referencing organisational reports as Chicago Style – notes and bibliography, namely the following:

  • there is no specific template of reference for a report; the template for referencing a book is used instead;
  • the author of a report is most often an organisation, but it can also be an individual;
  • a report can have editors, compilers, etc.; the names of such contributors are given after the title;
  • for documents available online, indicate the URL address at which they can be accessed.

So, the following template can be used for referencing an organisational report in a bibliography in accordance with the requirements of Chicago Style – author-date (17th ed.):

Author. Year. Title. Edited by Editor. City: Publisher. URL.
