Abstract:

A new route for sequencing complex macromolecules such as polysaccharides, RNA and DNA, which offers a quicker, cheaper and more reliable method than the existing methods, has been long desired. This has been achieved using an atomic force microscopy (AFM) to identify the position of an "aromatic bead" on a poly(ethylene oxide). These studies comprised three key areas, synthesis of the string-bead polymer model, the molecular recognition of host-guest system and a computational study of the dethreading process.

Extraction of mangrove bark with 4.0% aqueous sodium sulfite and 0.4% aqueous sodium carbonate at 100° and 2 hours gives 24-26% yields compared with extraction by water at 70° for 2 hours which gives 21%. The hot water extracts are more acidic (pH 3.6) than is the sulfite extract (pH 5.6); both are reasonably reactive toward formaldehyde (Stiasny number 70.6 using water and 85.4 using aqueous sulfite-carbonate). This thesis makes two main contributions to the literature. The first is to establish the existence of a capital supply channel, in particular a bank lending channel of monetary policy transmission in the UK using a clean measure of bank loan supply. In this study we exploit the revealed debt preferences of debt issuing firms by using the Becker and Ivashina (2014) fixed effects framework to isolate the impact of credit supply. A clinical database and sample bank were established for the ongoing analysis of transplants from Register donors. The three UMPs include forward guidance (FG), quantitative easing (QE) and negative interest rate policy (repo rate).
