Abstract:
This study investigates prepositional errors that Swedish 16-year-old students of English produce. The study attempts to understand why English L2 students in Sweden struggle with prepositions by looking at research within the SLA field regarding transfer, interlanguage transfer, implicit and explicit learning. The only extra-linguistic variable included in the study is the variable of gender. The method used to investigate students’ prepositional errors was to hand out a two-part test on prepositions to the students in one Grade 9 class in Sweden. The data was then analyzed and categorized to

Traditional college students are members of an age bracket noted for high levels of risky behavior, and research has shown that certain risky behaviors, such as disordered eating and problematic alcohol use, are particularly common among undergraduates. It is well established that certain events in the learning history predispose vulnerable persons to engage in maladaptive risky behaviors. What is less clear is why some persons facing these events go on to develop maladaptive behavior while others do not, or why people facing similar events develop different varieties of maladaptive behaviors.

Indiana University-Purdue University Indianapolis (IUPUI)<br>Prior research indicated a high prevalence of problematic drinking among college students, suggesting a need for more effective screening approaches and treatments. The tendency to act rashly in face of strong emotions (e.g. positive and negative urgency), alcohol cravings, and cue reactivity all have been associated with problematic alcohol use. However, no studies have examined the interactive effects of alcohol cravings, urgency, and cue reactivity. I hypothesized that alcohol cravings will be associated with greater problematic d

As the literature has noted, students frequently experience academic, financial, intimate relationship, peer relationship and parent-adolescent relationship stressors. Although many researchers have investigated possible causes and outcomes of stress, most of them focus mainly on a single stressor, rather than multiple stressors. In real life, it is rare to see only one stressor; therefore, adopting a constell

My study is focused on women in graduate Computer Science programs at two universities in Ontario, Canada. My research problem emerges from earlier feminist research addressing the low numbers of women in university Computer Science programs, particularly at the graduate level. After over twenty years of active feminist representation of this problem, mostly through large survey-based studies, there has been little change. I argue that rather than continuing to focus on the rising and falling numbers of women studying Computer Science, it is critical to analyze the specific socio-economic and

Prior research among college students has also found excessive use of the Internet and cell phones to be associated with sleep problems. However, little is known about the effects of smartphone use on sleep quality. Hence, this study aimed to examine the relationship between problematic smartphone use, including smartphone use before sleep, and sleep quality. Methods: A total of 974 smartphone-using colle

In this study, problematic sleep due to Social Media and phone use is defined as reduced or disturbed sleep caused by nighttime-specific behaviors such as awakenings for checking updates, being notified by incoming messages, or post`1poned bedtime because of Social Media activities. Such inadequate sleep during youth interferes with daytime academic efficiency and may even lead to increased school burnout. U
