General rules

In order to create a bibliographic reference to an online vide in MLA Style (8th ed.), provide the following data: title of the video and title of the website where it is available, name of the person who published the video (this may often be a nickname or a channel title, for example, the title of a YouTube channel), date of publication, and the cited video’s URL address.

Bibliographic reference template:

"Video Title." Website Title, uploaded by Person who published the video, date of publication, URL. Accessed date of access.

You can also give the names of contributors such as directors, producers, actors, etc., if you are crediting their particular contribution to the video.

The web service Grafiati allows you creating a bibliographic reference to a video automatically by URL. No need to insert manually the date of publication or the website title: just paste the link, and we will fill in all the data for you. This feature is now available for the videos from YouTube and Vimeo. Stay updated to our news and never miss the new features!
