Long/short dash option in references under DSTU 8302:2015 and DSTU GOST 7.1:2006

Our service now allows choosing between the long dash and the short dash to use in your bibliographic references generated in accordance with the requirements of the standards DSTU 8302:2015 and DSTU GOST 7.1:2006.

The rules of these standards allow using both punctuation signs: either the long dash (or em dash) ("—") or the short dash (or en dash) ("–"). The question on which sign to use belongs to typographic and publishing issues, and therefore is governed by the rules of a particular university, scholarly journal, etc.

By default, we are using the short dash:

Routledge handbook of internet politics / ed. by A. Chadwick, P. N. Howard. – Abingdon, Oxon : Taylor & Francis, 2010. – 512 p.

With the help of the bibliography menu (the button on the right hand of the bibliography title), you can set the use of the long dash:

Routledge handbook of internet politics / ed. by A. Chadwick, P. N. Howard. — Abingdon, Oxon : Taylor & Francis, 2010. — 512 p.

For the sake of unification, the chosen type of dash will be applied across all elements of your reference.

Adjust your settings based on the requirements of your institution or the journal to which you are submitting your article.
