Press release: how to cite in APA (7th ed.)?

Create a spot-on reference in APA 7 and 6

Select a source type:

Basic rules

As stated in APA Style Manual (7th ed.), press releases (also called media releases or news releases) belong to the so-called ‘grey literature’, i.e. to sources published beyond the traditional channels and having limited circulation. Thus, in addition to the conventional information such as name of author (or institution), date of publication, and title, a bibliographic reference to a press release should also include the source type designation ‘Press release’ in square brackets.

How to cite in a bibliography

To cite a corporate press release or another kind of media release in APA Style (7th ed.), use this reference template:

Author(s). (Date of publication). Title [Press release]. Publisher. URL
